F&S Boatworks was born out of founder Jim Floyd’s deep fascination with sea-keeping efficiency and custom woodworking. Drawing inspiration from Carl Moesly’s legendary 23' Sea Craft design and honing his craft alongside pioneer builder Ricky Scarborough, Sr. in Wanchese, North Carolina, Jim Floyd set out to build the ultimate offshore fishing machine. In 1996, he launched Hull #1, the 59' Fin-Ally, introducing a revolutionary synthesis of custom Carolina topside flare and a longitudinally stepped, variable-deadrise hull bottom.
Unlike conventional sea-v bottoms, every F&S vessel features engineered longitudinal steps and variable deadrise angles designed to introduce air under the running surface. This design breaks water suction, reduces wetted surface drag, and delivers remarkable fuel efficiency at high cruise speeds without sacrificing head-sea comfort. Built using cold-molded wood, high-tensile epoxy resins, and modern weight-saving composites, F&S vessels offer structural rigidity, soft landings in heavy seas, and striking aesthetic curves.
