The Pioneer of Offshore Deep-V Engineering
The Bertram legacy began in 1960 when founder Richard "Dick" Bertram entered the ocean racing scene with Moppie, a 31-foot wooden prototype designed by C. Raymond Hunt featuring a radical continuous deep-V hull. Winning the Miami-Nassau powerboat race in record time through treacherous eight-foot seas, Moppie established a new benchmark for ocean sea-keeping and inspired the launch of Bertram Yacht.
The legendary fiberglass Bertram 31 was introduced shortly thereafter at the 1961 New York Boat Show, launching a production revolution. Over the following decades, Bertram set the standard for production sportfishing vessels with celebrated models like the Bertram 28, 35, and the world-famous Bertram 54—a model widely recognized as one of the finest rough-water tournament platforms ever produced.
Today, operating out of Tampa, Florida under the stewardship of the Gavio Group, Bertram continues to push the boundaries of sportfishing design. By combining advanced vacuum resin-infusion fiberglass technology with modern propulsion and refined Italian-influenced interior finishes, Bertram honors its legendary offshore heritage while building state-of-the-art center consoles, dual consoles, and flybridge convertibles for the next generation of anglers.

Hull Design & Performance Pillars
Continuous Deep-V Hull Geometry: Pioneered alongside C. Raymond Hunt, the continuous deep-V deadrise cuts cleanly through heavy seas, eliminating pounding and providing unmatched head-sea comfort.
Advanced Resin-Infusion Construction: Modern Bertram hulls utilize vacuum-infused vinyl ester resin composites, achieving a superior strength-to-weight ratio with maximum hull structural integrity.
Pronounced Chine & Spray Deflection: Reverse chine geometries knock down heavy spray and provide exceptional lateral stability while trolling or at drift in rolling seas.
Substantial Beam & Low Center of Gravity: Engine placements and fuel tank configurations are centralized to optimize running trim, ride stability, and ocean-going safety.
